In 1972, the Hadudu game was renamed Kabaddi and given the status of a national game. The Bangladesh Amateur Kabaddi Federation was formed in 1973. The first committee of the Bangladesh Kabaddi Federation was formed in 1974 with Professor Yusuf Ali as the president and M. A. Hamza as the general secretary. The national championship has been organized since that year. Bangladesh Kabaddi is currently being run from the office room of the Kabaddi Stadium in the National Stadium Complex.
